To celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we would like to highlight the fantastic work from our clients at Clinipath Toxicology Laboratory (Including Frank, who is not a woman, but we equally appreciate his contributions🙂). Their work ethic and positive attitude inspires us every day and we would like to thank them for being so great to work with!

We recently sent them our UTAK Control Freak t-shirts and honestly believe that, on top of science, they also have a modelling career ahead of them 😊

Please feel fee to contact us for your complementary t-shirt and a feature on our page

Imtakt Product Line Overview

Cadenza: These powerful columns can distinguish subtle differences in your analytes making it an excellent choice for isomer separation, or detection of impurities.

Unison: Low carbon C1 columns have been used for decades as alternative selectivity columns to the use of traditional C18s or when analyzing highly hydrophobic compounds that have too much retention on a C18 column.

Scherzo: These multi-mode columns utilize reversed phase, cation and anion exchange, as well as normal phase modes all on the same column, virtually eliminating the need for ion-pairing reagents.

Intrada: With a growing trend toward the use of peptides and proteins in pharmaceutical and other therapeutics, the Intrada family of columns is designed to address the chromatographic needs of these researchers.

Presto: This is the world’s first 2μ non-porous column. This extremely efficient material works very well for separation of large molecules like polymers, surfactants, protein and even DNA.

Dacapo: Dacapo DX-C18 is one of the most innovative columns that we have created. This 2.5μm particle is manufactured by Imtakt and uses our Dual-Matrix Technology, which is a monumental advancement in column design.

Covid-19 Update

With the recent events regarding COVID-19 announcements I wanted to update you with the current situation regarding supply of our products and services.

Whilst there are less flights in and out of Australia and New Zealand, Cheryl and Patricia are working very closely with our freight partners to ensure that all goods are pre-cleared which reduces any delays.

We are in contact with all of our supply partners on a regular basis to make sure that goods destined for your lab are readily available. We have also increased our stock levels of high-volume items to ensure we have adequate stock on hand for your requirements.

Queensland has not had hard lock downs imposed so all staff are working from our Capalaba location, which means we are working at full capacity and taking care of you and your needs. This also means that our domestic freight partners are also working at full capacity so lead times for delivery of your goods is not impacted.

As always, we are here to help and remain responsive to your needs.

We will keep you updated with any changes.

ANSWERING THE URGENT CALL FOR CHLORINATED PARAFFIN STANDARDS

The lack of suitable standards for Chlorinated Paraffins (CPs) has presented significant challenges for analysis and regulation. In October 2019 the
Eurostars CHLOFFIN project was launched in an attempt to address this shortfall.

The three year collaboration between Chiron, Vrije Universiteit and European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC) aims to deliver:

  • 40 individual standards of CPs
  • 8 13C labelled individual CPs
  • 10 congener mixtures
  • 1 matrix Certified Reference Material (CRM)

Standards will be well characterised and purity assessed.

This suite of Reference Materials presents an important step forward in the accurate quantification of CPs.

Find out more in the new  Chloffin project

New International Drug Controls

NPS List UPDATE

In December 2019 The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended scheduling of 12 New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) and one precursor. The decision was adopted by the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in March 2020 and communicated to the WHO and UN Member States on 7th May. Control of two fentanyl analogues took immediate effect, whilst the remaining decisions will enter into force in November 2020.

The WHO recommended that APINACA (AKB-48) should be kept under surveillance.

List

What does this mean for Drug Testing Laboratories?

When a drug becomes Internationally Controlled, Member States are required to provide the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) with an estimate of their medical and scientific requirements for the year. The status of each country’s estimates is published monthly on the INCB website, and is a sign to exporting authorities that the receiving country is compliant. Delays in providing and approving estimates, not uncommon for newly scheduled compounds, can result in longer than usual delivery times for reference materials. Ordering well in advance is recommended.
